What Portable Exercise Equipment Is Available?
Everybody likes to keep in shape. Some people do so by playing sports, others by going to their local gym. Whatever method of exercise you choose, there are going to be times when you cannot find the time to do it – maybe you have to work late, possibly you are on vacation. It does not stretch the mind to think of occasions when you would love to work out, but it just is not possible.
It can be too easy not to turn up to practice or the gym for one day – and then let it carry on, and on. Every time your workout is skipped, it will be much harder to get back into the swing of things.
At times like these, portable exercise kit starts to look attractive. Perhaps a brief run down of what portable equipment is widely used for when working out would be a good idea, as there are many options when it comes to making portable home exercise equipment choices that are right for you.
Generally, if you can move it (easily), then this is what is being talked about. Think of anything that you can possibly work up a sweat using; A ball, a weight (even quite a heavy stone!), a skipping rope, a freestanding punch bag, stretch bands – you start to get the idea?
To make an informed choice on what you want, it is important to understand what your goals are for exercise. Do you want a gentle work out, tailored to your existing fitness level, and that is easy on the joints? Resistance bands or mini exercise bikes would be a good idea – actually, resistance bands have been the wonder tool of people for years because of their ability to give an excellent quality workout without the need for bulky weights.
Do you want something that will help your total body coordination, provide a very good cardiovascular work out and look good to other people if they happen to watch? A skipping rope is all you need (remember watching Rocky, when the skipping rope was whooshing around, and the rope was being made to do all sorts of things?), but you could also ot for a cheap elliptical trainer such as the stamina inmotion e1000 elliptical trainer.
All of these tools can be used for general keep fit duties – staying in shape, loosing weight etc. As with a lot of things, you can put as much effort in as you like, and the results will come out the other side!
When you have your goals sorted out, think about the spaces that you might be using your things. If you often have to work late at the office, you will need something that can be fitted into the space that you have, and that you can probably do inside.
If you want to work out at home, you may need to think about the noise you may generate (letting loose on a punch bag can be a lot of fun, but it can also be quite noisy in the living room!). With just a small amount of items say, an Ab roller – (where you roll a small wheel with your hands either side along the floor, whilst your feet are also in contact with the surface), a skipping rope and some resistance bands, you can tailor a world class fitness regime just for you. And more to the point, take it with you wherever you want. Can you imagine being able to have a fully functional gym in your suitcase when you go on vacation? The possibilities are certainly exciting.
As with all things, for each piece of equipment you buy, the quality may vary. Not all stretch bands are equal (although generally, it can be quite challenging to find a bad one, as it is a single piece of material), some skipping ropes do not have well made handles, or their ropes fray prematurely. Research is the key – finding out what other people use, maybe reading reviews on websites – all of these options are good ideas to gauge whether you are looking at a quality piece of kit.
It can be quite bewildering to make good portable home exercise equipment choices, but following some of the tips above should get you well on your way to making that first step, or skip towards making an informed decision. Good luck!
